I should have revised my post to read more like, "functionally the bike is perfect for me, so I can't see changing anything just for the sake of 2-300 grams of weight reduction."

Yes, the front is Minimoto and the rear is Neo Retro.....I would have put a Minimoto on the rear also if it weren't for the fact I couldn't stand to leave the elegant rear cable stop unused.

Nevermind....sale didn't go through.

I have some changes in the works for the Cielo in the upcoming month. Back to 2x gearing for one, and brake configuration changes, etc. so stay tuned (pun intended)!

I always wanted a Cielo, but was put off by the super short head tube. Is that a cross racing geometry thing? For the L sized frame it has a 570mm top tube and a 134.2mm head tube. That just seems weird to me. Such a long top tube and a tiny head tube, when the average person riding a 57cm bike will need a tall head tube.

I think it is a cross racing geometry thing....similar to how Focus cross bikes have short head tubes. That would be one of the changes I would make, and probably will make when I upgrade to a custom steel build.

Also, the fact that a CX fork is taller than a road fork means a bit of a shorter head tube, but the effective headtube length may be more similar.

You'll probably find the the stack is almost the same and the reach slightly shorter than a equivalently sized road bike. A to C on a cross fork is typically 35-45 mm greater than a road fork. But the bottom bracket might only be 10mm higher.

Yeah, the drop on the 57 Cielo is 62mm so only 8mm off the typical 70 road drop. The stack is about 20cm off from my preferred road stack, hence the spacer under the stem.

Decided to lighten the build up as I will be using this as my main ride for a little while until I decide what to build for a road bike.

A comment on the head tube being short would also be to consider the substantial stack height added by the 44mm head tube bottom cup. The King cup is about the tallest out there as well (a few mm taller than a Cane Creek). Also, on a canti bike, they are often making the HT shorter to allow for people run a cable hanger, that can often be 8-10mm.

Much better to have to run a few spacers than have a front end that it too tall.

Great looking bike btw!

A CX fork is also much longer than a road fork, so the head tube will be shorter and the down tube steeper.
