Wanted to put together a 2nd bike, which I can use for commuting/when the weather isn’t the best, so decided on a cheap carbon frame and forks from Dengfu (via eBay) + the new Ultegra and some semi-aero wheels, was looking for a pair that I could put on my Scott in bad weather, in the end I ordered some Boyd Rouleur’s, which by a stroke of luck they had run out of the rims for, so got a free upgrade to the Altamonts (a $200 upgrade!)

First impressions on the shakedown ride are very positive, the wheels feel amazing, the frame is fairly stiff but comfortable at the back end, the front feels very direct, but a bit harsher than my Scott (maybe due to the Alloy vs Carbon bar), but either way, not too bad.

It was a bit too, all black, so decided to have some decals made up, I got tons printed so will change the colours around fairly frequently as and when I get bored!

Nice build, you forgot to mention the expander weight correct?

You could drop some weight on the tubes, about 70 grams if you swap to latex, other than that, very nice.

Thanks, the expander is under SFN (Star Fangled Nut) above, it's one of the Ultrastar copies from eBay, works well.
The bike is not really a weight weenie exercise, but point noted on the tubes.

Nah, it's deffo a Fm011, I wanted the FM066Sl, but it worked out £150 more, this was approx £300 for Frame/Fork/Headset and Seatpost

Edit: This comment makes no sense now, it was in response to a previous poster asking if it was an FM066 frame

Nice bike! I've just finished a similar FM011 + Ultegra build lately, I really like it so far. Its my first internally routed frame and have a question. Is it normal that there is a pretty big hole on the frame where the fd cable exits, so the rear wheel can throw a lot of water and debris into the frame? Or did you do something to cover it?

Yeah, I thought that was weird too, but it's designed for Di2 cables to exit for the front mech, my frame came with 2 rubber grommets to block the holes (which are a loose fit, so I glued them in)

Ok, my bad for not knowing the SFN :D

The bike isn't a weight weenie, but if you're using an ultrastar copy (I broke one already), you could take a little bit of weight to make it sub 7 kg :D

Keep posting photos and reviews from time to time.

Cheers

The Boyd rims - would you mind letting me know the external width? I couldn't find it on their site and they are a new brand on me.

What are your thoughts on them in general?

Cheers

The wheels are great, very stiff and roll well, from the website "the Altamont rim is 24mm wide with an internal diameter of 18.3mm"

Nice build man, Which size is the frame??

Im thinking of building a bike with that frame but, 1kg for the frame is heavier than the claimed weight in their website... A lot more

It's a 54cm. Weight on the website is 950 +-50, so only just outside. Doesn't bother me too much as the goal of this was price rather than super light weight, that's what my Scott is for.

hello,
i am pretty much interrested in building up the same frame.
i own already three open mould frames (1x ican AC058 1 dengfuFM069, 1x xmiplay IP106) so i am pretty much familliar with chinese 'open moulds'.
So far, i guess you have ridden this beauty. can you report sth on how it climbs? how it corners? how does it feel on fast pace/downhill. did u have any quality issues?
Is it stiff on the BB?

would be great if u could answer my questions. bets regards
