2011 Scalpel Frame cracked repeatedly

I have a 2011 Scalpel.
The frame has broken 3 times.
Cannondale is baffled. I am a conservative rider so there is no impact issues here. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
Love my bike but tired of the unreliability of it. And its seriously messing with my training.

I.E. Is is the same crack or area each time? What area? How long to crack?

Hi All

the frame breaks at the base of the seat stay on the disc brake side and has broken on same ride at same place on ride every month since December 2010, I have broken 3 frames since. Cannonodale have been brilliant and have replaced the frame each time but I am worried should this happen on a stage race.No one can explain?? is there anyone out there with same issue??

havent seen that yet, have a few expert riders on them right now. but it's early and the bikes havent been back much. i will certainly keep a lookout.

I work in an LBs that sells Cannondale, we've sold 4 or 5 Scalpels, not had any problems yet, wiil update the topic if we do though!

I've seen a different bike break there. Its due to disc brake forces and the combined suspension force (since there is no pivot there).

I will bet that it is cracking when you are braking then hit a sizable bump.

I've seen this one time with a 2009/2010 Ultimate frame. There was no apparent impact...not sure what the cause was. Cannondale was good about replacing the frame. I just ordered my 2011 Scalpel; hopefully, if I have this issue, Cannondale will continue to be good about frame replacement.

i thought i'd resurrect this topic.
we've had three break, two by the same rider, who is admittedly hard on his stuff, and one by a fast-but-not-abusive lady. all in the same place, left seatstay right above the disc mount.

I have seen 2 broken Scalpel 2011, low seatstay on drive side both of them.

I have have owned one that was ok and my wife has one that is ok.

we have two cracked 2011 Scalpels at work. On just rear the crank on the chainstay, left side. the other one had some problems with the lower bottle cage mount on the long tube, not even sure that one is warranty. Never seen a cracked seatstay.
