Hi,

A friend of mine is about to buy a Corratec Superbow Team Worldcup2004 (there are some good sales in ebay.de) because he is impresed with its looks and its price (1900euros with a lot of XTR compnents).
I'm a little sceptic with his choice because I cannot find nowhere a review in English of that bike or even the Bow type frame (not to mention the zzyzx components).

Can anyone that have used this bike give me some reviews/comments about how good the bike realy is and what is its frame weight?

Thank you in advance

Zzyzx components are a rebranded mix of mostly FSA (cranks) and DRC (rims). The carbon cranks are exactly the same as FSA Carbon Pro's and their alu cranks are afterburners.

Some of their bikes have been tested by the German Bike and Mountainbike magazins. Check the archive of www.mountainbike-magazin.de for test results. If you do not speak German: They tested the 2004 Superbow Team, the bike just below the Team WC. Their verdict (something like this): "The extravagant Superbow is, without compromise, made for uphill due to its streched out seat postion and efficient energy transfer. It climbs like no other bike in the test, a real specialist". (Verdict: Good).

I do not know anything about frame weight, but the XT-class Team comes in at 10.6kg total, with disc brakes, so it cannot be that bad, but supposedly not superlight either.

hello, i had a Team Bow World Cup year 2000. the design of the frame was almost the same, the new one has some diffrent tubes. but the basic is design are the same.

there is 4 thing to say about them.

1. VERY pricy, my bike has Hayes, Hügi, XTR and SID, and the price was at least 6-700 lower then al other good bikes.

2. have never ridden such a god hill climber as that bike since then. I could have semi slicks tires, and still climb better in bad weather then my friends that had mud tires :D

3. hade no problem with the frame or with the corratec parts (as cranksets that was lighter then xtr).

4. VERY god company that cares about there customers. I live in Sweden and it was hard to get spear parts to the bike, because the company that imported it didn’t want to order such small parts or something. So I mailed Corratec, one week later I had a letter in my mail box, a lot of stickers, a next year catalogue and 2 new parts. 2 derailleur hanger or what’s the name of the part.

So I think that you don’t need to be worried, is a very good bike, and nothing suspicious

There were two guys in my town that rode Corratec. And they both had problems with their frames. They both broke it at the place where the seatpost tube meets the bow(upper) tube. Because it;s pretty low there was a lot of pressure on that point. One of them has a new frame (Corratec replaces it without a hassle) and he's riding that for a year and a half now and he's very pleased with it.

That's all I know about them.

 Frames that brake and a company that cares about customers is the best combination!!

If you ride a lot, that stands for a new frame every 2 years or so. That means you can get rid of your old, beaten, rusty frame and get a new shiny one for free. No joke: Find a company that has a reputation of frames breaking, good warranty and good customer service.
