will a sram pc89-r hollowpin chain shift with 8-speed??

will a sram hollowpin 9speed chain shift nice with a 8 speed srp cassette?? I need a new chain and want to go lighter. Also, will it shift nice with 8speed chainrings(raceface)??

I run a pc89r hollowpin chain on a 9 speed cassette, with 8 speed chainrings and haven't had a single problem
And i've been running a sachs 9speed chain on an 8 speed cassette on another bike, again with no probs whatsoever
Add the two together and i *doubt* any problems would appear...
