I thought I had a picture somewhere of the broken/sheared Spicer fork, but I can't find it.

As nikh said, and I would complete this by saying : It's not because one person broke this Spicer fork that it is per se a bad fork. You wouldn't believe what some people do with their bike ! :!:

I found some Spicer pics on my HD though..

Same thing goes for Race Face.

I've lost count of the number of crank arms I've seen snapped.

And just an interesting link to look at whilst were on the subject:

What a beautiful Morati fork ... too bad they are sooooo expensive. And their frames are really nice too. Maybe one day 8)

And don't forget : titanium rules !

How about the shape of the crown?
Does it matter when it comes to strength and how the fork will perform.
If you look at a Morati versus Magmaa, Morati is very square and have several welds while Magmaa is round and smoot.

Will the Magmaa one be more 'flexible' in rough terrain?

I think the Magmaa ones are more difficult to make right. They look a bit like roadforks to me
So yes, I think they will flex a lot, a bit like the ones Litespeed used to make. Not the kind of fork you want to look at under heavy braking
