SRAM really does Direct Mount

As someone who likely bent my derailleur hanger on today's ride, I was already happy with the initial benefits of the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger. But this, surely this was always an idea in the back of SRAM's mind.

It hardly hangs out at all!!
(please make mechanical options too)

That LW cassette is pretty cool too. Not only are more cogs alloy, but it seems pretty clear there is less of a jump to the bail-out 52 - at least to my eyes.
Still just 12spd though - I counted a few times just in case there was even more on show here.

So what happens if you crash on that side. Also the cassette looks cheaper, no longer only 1 bolt on cog but 3.

Since first generation Eagle, sram has made more backwards steps than forward…
The UDH seemed like such a great design with the "lip" on the inside that would guide the chain back onto the smallest cog in case of overshift. Preventing it from getting stuck between the smallest cog and the frame.
I don't understand why they'd get rid of that feature.

I dont understand the design at all. a replacement derailleur hangers sole job is to bend in the event of a crash & prevent damage to the frame. this new sram design looks heavily reinforced, which willl surely have a higher risk of damaging the frame
