Best 11 speed casstte
Moderator: Moderator Team
Hi
I'm wondering which 11 speed cassette I should choose in terms of weight, reliability, durability and pedaling efficiency
The options are:
A. Sram PG1175 11-42 speed (approx. 325 gram) but also need to change to DT freehub ---> therefore front chainring will be 32 teets
B. Garbaruk MTB Cassette Speed 11-46/48 (approx. 304 gram) ---> therefore front chainring wiil be 34 teets
I think both of them will be almost the same price (because of adding the freehub to SRAM) and almost same weight
What should i choose ?

Ryet or Ztto 9-46 for me
I don't backpedal, and SRAM doesn't offer a 9-46
However, the Ryet shifts better than my e*13, 3TTT and Leonardi 9-xx cassettes. I can really 100% recommend it

Ryet shifts better than the Leonardi? That's good to know.
Also, the back of the cassette looks like several other cassettes...would this be the same manufacturer?

you can hunt your local classifieds for a deal on an XG1195 or XG1199. They are 265g so pretty much the best reason to run 11 speed. I've seen plenty lightly used for $100 even though they still go for $200 on ebay auctions.
Yes, shifting is on the same level as the Sram cassettes for me. I'm pretty sure the fully-machined Aliexpress cassettes come from the same factory, so you can choose your preferred brand.
OP, your criteria are: weight, reliability, durability and pedaling efficiency.
Some of these requirements are in complete conflict with others.
That said, for reliability, durability and pedaling efficiency in an 11 speed MTB cassette you can't go past the M5100 cassettes.
Phenomenal shifting, no issue backpedaling, all steel cogs for reliability and very affordable - spend the savings (achieved both in initial purchase price and in longevity) on weight reduction elsewhere on the bike.
If you really, really want to go exotic but maintain some quality, have a look at Garbaruk.
Those other "boutique" cassettes are more expense and trouble than they are worth for exceptionally minimal (if any) gain.
100-200g saved on your cassette is going to be undetectable in performance on a MTB (or indeed on most any other bike).

I've had nothing but good experiences with SunRace products. My wife currently runs the 11-46T with HG driver, and it shifts perfectly.
