The Lux is an outdated XC frame and I freaking love it. As a lot of parts coming up for replacement or service I've considered buying another bike but realized I really like the Lux geo for where I ride (super twisty, low speeds, lots of logs).

I'm committed to keeping the frame but nothing else is tied down. Looking for ideas to loss weight but also make the bike even more "pure XC".

Current Setup:
Canyon Lux Frameset Large
Fox performance elite suspension (110mm fox 34 ,210x55mm float DPS) , rockshox dual remote- Stock
640mm shimano pro carbon bar, EC70 inline post, fabric tri flat saddle. uno -17 stem , crash protection cover removed (it didn't work lol)
XTR M9100 shifter and derailluer, M8100 chain cassette brakes pedals crank (165mm 34t)
DT Swiss M1700 wheelset Ikon 2.4 / rocket ron 2.25 (with tannus insert)

Currently 11.72kg a bit dirty

Some of my ideas:
lighter tires and lighter insert - I can't imagine riding without a rear insert now but something like the tubolight would save 100g
100mm fork - step down to a 32mm chasis and steepen up the HTa from 69.5 to 70
50mm stroke rear shock - not sure this is how it works but i think this would allow me to drop from 100mm to ~90mm of rear travel
different lockout options - i would love to have a 3 pos remote or possibly even a sid brain in the front. I think DT swiss is the only 3 pos rear i can find
lighter wheels - M1700s are nice but just a bit porky. 25mm internal is fine , maybe something carbon
completely flat handlebar - i know most people like back sweep but when running so narrow i find my hands want to rest closer to flat
lighter brakes - not high on the list but i like the magura offerings
Sram Drivetrain - not high on the list but i think their offerings can save a decent amount of weight and ditch the HG+ ecosystem
pedals- xpedo right?
grips- esi once i am settled on my cockpit and don't have to cut them off lol

shortening the shock stroke will also shorten the reach, lower the BB height & slacken both the head & seattube angles, something to consider

Sram AXS drivetrain
Sram xx1 crank set with oval chainring
XT brakes
One piece handlebars
Carbon seatpost
Roval Carbon Wheelset
Esi racer grips
XT pedals
Vittoria barzl 2.35 tires

24lbs

I am getting the fox step cast 32 installed hopefully it gets down to 23lbs , but I know if I get lighter wheels I can be 22 easy

I'm not following, wouldn't it just limit travel? shouldn't geo be unchanged since the eye to eye will be the same length?

ah sorry, you didnt mention keeping the same eye to eye length shock. nino has been racing 120mm scott scale since 2019. if the shock tune is decent, longer travel wont be miles slower, its taken me a while to appreciate that... but my trails are pretty rough..

Agreed on travel but honestly a super caliber would be the perfect bike for where I ride I just can't get one.

Going for a lighter insert first
Tannus ~170g -> tubolight evo SL 58g

Eyeing up tires next. I found the Conti cross king Bernstein at 570g but they don't appear to be tubeless... What's the go to recommendation 2.2" is fine

Get some lighter wheels with tubolito as the first thing.

I can only recommend the fox factory 32.

Manitou Mcleod or Mara inline hooked up to a Shimano XTR 9000 2x shifter = three position remote. This is possible because the XTR shifter has three positions. It works perfectly for fully open to mid to closed. You can add a doubler to run the fork.

MCLEOD 4 position looks sweet but doesn't seem to be available anywhere (in 210). did manitou discontinue it?

A few changes and down to 11.46kg

XT brakes with 180/160 -> Magura MT4 with 160/160 Ashima rotors = - 200g
Tannus insert -> no insert = -150g
Fabric Tri Flat CroMo -> Fabric Tri Flat carbon = -60g
Rocket Ron 2.25 -> Racing Ralph 2.25 = + 75g

I'm super happy with the maguras modulation and mineral oil thats a win in my book! I also weighed my 34SC and was shocked, over 1700g with the axle. I might need to replace that.

Shimao brakes run on mineral oil as well....not few people chose a Shigura for a combination of both advantages.

Anyway....I don't get that build. What kind of terrain exactly are you riding?
You could save massive weight with a proper saddle though.

You mentioned that you couldn't think of removing the insert, no you do. How come?
If you wanna save weight, get yourself proper wheels.
Cranks are also quite heavy. Cut those braking cables to proper length....won't save much weight but looks weird right now.
Are there many steep climbs? Do you use your lightest gear? If not, get rid of the 50+ largest cog.
In general cassettes, especially the cheaper ones carry quite some over weight
Interested in buying Carbonsport Lightweight wheels with broken spokes.
