I'm into buiding new aluminium wheels for my everyday xc / xcm hardtail MTB.
The wheel should be:
1. Durable (the most important)
2. Compliant (not too stiff for my hard tail)
3. Lightweigt (if posible, I'm not weight weenie on a weight weenie forum )
I'm biasen on folowing configuration:
1. Rims:
- Duke Lucky Star 6ters or
- Duke Crazy Star 6ters
- Lucky star is rated as XC and it realy light weight, but Crazy Star is wider and rated as trail/enduro however only 100 grams deference. I'll be runing 2.3 - 2.4 tyres foront and bak.
2. Spokes: Sapim CX Ray
- but how many of them
3. Hubs: DT 350 / 240
The thing is i don't know how many spokes to use and which patern to lace it. Any recomendation will be apriciated.
Rider weight 75kg (+- 3kg)
Bike weight 11 KG (+- 0.5kg)
Riding style: 80% light xc, 20% more technical xc
Duke rims 28 vs 32 spokes for durable rim
