The machined one looks better.that is true.
But weight?no.they are similar.only carbon ones are lighter.

I have the 90mm on my gravel for 3+ years.
Only drawback is when you put the bike in a travel box. You must remove the stem from the fork, instead of just the handlebar from the stem.
Replacing the stem with 40mm of spacers avoid the headset to move.
Did you manage to get drop bars in that stem? How so??carbonazza wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 10:44 pmI have the 90mm on my gravel for 3+ years.

Yes. Like you do for the shifters, from one end to the center.Kurt1980 wrote: ↑ Did you manage to get drop bars in that stem? How so??

Do you think the stem would be able to navigate round the tighter radius of compact bars?
Also, do the clamping faces offer enough surface areas to not delaminate carbon bars?
Intriguing possibility if I can overcome the inconvenience of no removable face plate.
Cheers!

It has a wider and smoother contact surface than a usual stem, no delamination so far.Kurt1980 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 2:34 amDo you think the stem would be able to navigate round the tighter radius of compact bars?

I plan to change my gravel bar to a flared, that is quite tight, I'll let you know if I needed another stem.
Thanks for the info, do keep us posted.carbonazza wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 10:26 pmIt has a wider and smoother contact surface than a usual stem, no delamination so far.Kurt1980 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 2:34 amDo you think the stem would be able to navigate round the tighter radius of compact bars?

Hey. I'm interested in this stem for my gravel. Do you think it will be able to slide on to a Zipp SL 70 Xplr bar?carbonazza wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 10:26 pmIt has a wider and smoother contact surface than a usual stem, no delamination so far.Kurt1980 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 2:34 amDo you think the stem would be able to navigate round the tighter radius of compact bars?

Updating. After far too long sitting on the fence... splinters in the backside gave me some motivation.
Purchased the Newmen 2 bolt stem.
I had to push a bit past the recommended opening to get it round my compact bars, so keep that in mind if you purchase these. The journey onto the bars kind of looks one way.... caveat emptor.
That said, they look pretty nice. Certainly more modern than my previous setup. Light obviously, and I assume pretty stiff.
I'll update this thread if I have any problems.
