Alu pins wear out too quickly and the original steel pins weighs only 7 gr.

I'm using alu pins. mine is 1 month old, ~50H riding and still as new (no differens when I screw them out of the der and checked them with the micrometer). But I also have an extra set of pins in my toolbag if something happends

What does the stock long XTR long arm cage weigh vs the 16g carbon version on ebay?

whoops saw your link, so it looks like ca. 40 grams savings on the cage and 11g for the pulleys, for about 50ish total on just those two changes. Not bad.

What are cf jockeys?

I am tuning an XTR M952 SGS and have ordered Tacx pulleys, aluminum pivot bolt, aluminum pulley bolts, ti pinch bolt, aluminum limit screws and an carbon inner cage.

I am searching for a carbon outer cage in SGS so I guess I will keep my eyes on ebay.

dude, firstly, really nice work with the derailler.

i have one question. how on earth did u guys take out the pins at the pivots? i have an xt derailler i am experimenting on and would like to tear it apart as it is useless to me already. hope someone can help me. thanks in advance

Joshie, buy the drill stand. hand drill wont simply work.
This is my method.
Look here.

1st step: mark two circle on the back of the rear D like this.


2nd step: drill it with your hand hold like this.


3rd step: take one bolt to support the rear D like this.


4rth step: pressure down from where you drill to push down the pivot like this. (screw is to support the rear D)in picture i didnt put screw.


5th step: almost finish. use plier to take out the pivot.
