I like the clearance for 2.3-2.4 size tires and the relaxed head angle. This should be a simple, fun, and fast bike.

Interesting that they got rid of the knock blocks. I liked that feature on the prior model.

Sure it added a handful of grabs, but ruined top tubes are not a good time.

Here's a link for some weights on a Specialized Epic HT Comp Carbon 2020 in size L.
The frame was maybe a bit heavy, but I hate matte black frames… 50-200g weight penalty for something that looks pretty good, I can live with that :)

Built this in the days. Not a true weight weenie build but a lot of useful weight and stuff so I might as well share. Stripped the frame and wrote everything down. The scale said 8,78kg with SWAT tool, Cage and ofc pedals (those old used XTR ones are my lightest ones).
If someone with too much Money and a Mora knife goes banana on a S-works build I guess it would be light weight. I could cut maybe a half a kilo on this build without much money and still have a usable hardtail.

Still nags med that I forgot to get the weight on the new shifter housing from the XT m8100 shifter...

That's a nice build! Were the original Roval wheels aluminum?

Yes. IThink you need to go "expert" to get carbon. Probably the weight is the about 2k grams for them too. A bit expensive if you gonna change everything except frame, fork, stem, headset, axles... :D

Does anyone know what's the maximum size chainring the new Epic HT will accept?
Ideally I'd want to be able to fit a 38 oval (so effectively a 40 as far as clearance is concerned) but I could see myself settling on a round one if the oval is a no-go.

Have a look at garbaruk their offset depends on the size of the chainring

Would there be a nice upgrade from the 2018 epic ht to the new epic ht 2020?
Seems like the big difference is the weight and comfort?
I'm in doubt between the 'old' and the new one.
The old one with an exclusive paint and very much discounted.

The geometry is the biggest change. That, and going up to a 30.9mm seatpost, which allows for a greater selection of dropper seatposts.

The 2020 epic ht has a better geometry for downhills and fits bigger tires. It's a better frame to build around, IMO.

You are probably right but my problem is that I allready have a very high end carbon dt swiss front fork.
And the new epic ht apparently needs a very specific RS fork.

as long as your fork steerer fits, then I cant see why you couldnt fit any fork you wanted to the epic frame?
