Hi weenies,

Ok I’ve been making do with a run of the mill 29er HT from Canyon for a while, time to upgrade.

I’ve found an Epic s-works frame for a good deal so going to work around that.

Fork- I want a suspension one (100mm) but 500-700 Eur budget? Seems to be some out there on good deals these days.

Groupset- I’m open to suggestions of things that balance weight/price. I want mechanical.

Brakes- don’t want to skimp here, 180/160 I’m thinking.

Wheels- I’ve got some Crossmax SLR 100/142 thru axle that I bought for the canyon but with boost I guess these go the way of the dodo bird. 500-700 Eur hoping around 1500-1600g? I’m 75kg so not mega light.

Handlebar- Carbon option that’s reliable and light?

Other boys I can source from existing stock. I’m aiming for 9-10kg is that reasonable? Size M

Ooo that sounds like a pretty tasty build! Got some pics? I prob would go without the Srm, what pieces do you think were worth the extra money?

Yeah- SRM is not needed unless you want to have power- Also, a standard crank will be even lighter.
XTR brakes are eseential.
For me, all of these parts except the drivetrain were worth it.

I am going to try either XTR 9100 or Eagle AXS- I think Eagle XX1 does not shift great. (Shifters, derailleur, cassette, chain)

Excellent, thx. Yeah I’ve been impressed with the reliability of even lower level Shimano shifting. Was thinking XT single ring set up and saving money for nice wheels.

Would this fork work or do I need the 44 offset?

51 rake is fine- But get the factory if you can swing it. Your picture is the "Performance" model.

Nice ride! I've found an Expert model on discount so I think I'll just go with that to be lazy and avoid the faff in the end...

I thought the Epic HT used a 51mm offset, with the FS using the 42 (RS) or 44 for Fox.

Sweet bike and build. What's the widest tire that will fit the rear?

I have had 2.3 Specialized Fastrack- But it is not what I would call a "big tire" bike.
The Fox fork will run out of room before the rear end does.

I rode the pictured S-works hardtail at a 100 mile gravel race in the Sierras yesterday.
Pretty rutted and rocky in spots- And lots of standing water and mud.
It performed perfectly and was not slower than gravel bikes, and more secure on descents.
Only thing I would do different would be to run a larger front chainring.
