65mm stem?
Moderator: Moderator Team
As luck would have it, 60 is a tad too short and 70 is a tad too long,,,,
So far I've spotted in 65mm:
- Raceface Atlas
- Spank Oozy
- Joystick Builder
- Sunline Vone
- Box Cusp
- older Easton Havoc
- XLC all mtn
all of which are fairly lardy at 170g ish, and I'm not too keen on the looks of the last few.
- and the only lightish one Ive found so far is a Pro Tharsis Trail at around 130g
Anyone seen any other 65mm stems? Almost every stem is a mutiple of 10mm.
[31.8mm, rise not an issue]

Or go and measure actual stems, I'm sure you'll find one labeled as 60 or 70 that actually comes out as 65.

I know...
I've been trying to tell myself 70mm is okay but I'm dead sensitive to bar position, with my creaking skeleton.
On the full susser it's less important but this is a rigid 29er so everything needs to be exactly right.

You can adjust by 5mm by rotating your bars
You can adjust by 5mm just by ignoring it
Christ, most peoples height varies by twice that during the course of the day........ mostly in the spine.
You probably need two stems, 70 before about 3pm and 60 after, for the afternoon commute and night rides

cheers all. The Pro Tharsis is fitted and working well.
It has an internal collar to preload the headset, rather than need the topcap+bung to do this job. So I've removed the 60g-odd steerer bung and replaced it with a lighter nylon bung that's only job is to hold the topcap in place. So I've saved some weight there.
