Hi,

On my sons 24 inch the wheels are tubeless ready and the tires are Schwalbe Rocket Ron Performance Addix which are not tubeless ready. There is no version in that size that are. Since it is the lightest quality tire in that size I don't wan't to switch tire and is wondering if it ok to run it as a tubeless tire?

I'm mostly a roadie so my experience with this sort of things is not big :-).

What rims are they?
Most decent tubeless ready rims will accept non- tubeless tyres set up tubelessly. (Most of my fleet are set up like this)
Schwalbe are also one of the easiest non-tubeless tyres I've come across when setting up tubelessly. (And are you positive it's not TL or TR? Schwalbe are almost across the board now, and many OE tyres aren't even marked, despite having the proper bead.)

Another bonus is the fact it's a tiny bike, for a tiny rider. So you'll be running <20psi.......

You'll just need tape, valve and sealant. And an hour or two if is your first time.

thanks for the reply I will give it a go :-)

And the wheels are the ones found on this bike:

I think you can buy them without the bike also.

if the tyres don't inflate well/at all on the taped-up rims then a option is to go ghetto tubeless with a 20" inner tube.

I've done this in the past on my daughter's 24inch MTB.

Why would he need to ghetto it? It's got tubeless ready rims. Unlike road, once you have a tubeless ready rim, pretty much *any* tyre will go up tubelessly.

well, since we still don't know about the rim being tubless, and the fact that there is yet no official standardization for 24" it may end up being neccessary. Also check out Ali Clarkson's tubeless on 24" saga: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WUEZO2mPUo
it's actually possible to come to the conclusion even before realising it makes no sense at all
