I wonder why the lower bushing is rotated 90 degrees as it would keep it from being able to pivot? Maybe some kind of new option for ride feel or geometry change?

2 bottle cages and at least one looks usable in UK winter conditions :D

Some old Titus Racer-X has that kind of rear shock mount too, right?

Not really, the Racer-X uses a regular vertical shock eyelets at both ends and a rocker link under the mount. The only similar thing is the shock position along the top tube, it can't carry two bottles either.
