I am putting together a new build with an XTR M9000 1x11 setup.
36 ring up front and the XTR M9000 11-40 rear cassette. (KMC chain)
Can I use the medium cage rear mech or should I go with the long cage?

Medium cage is for single and double chainring. Long cage is for triple.

medium cage would work fine. I'm running 11-46 with medium cage & that also works fine.

Hmm I thought gs = med, sgs = long.

I run gs on 32t with 11-42 cassette.

I’ve got a lot of miles on an XTR 11-40 and alternatively on an e13 9-46 both using xtr medium cage GS with xtr trigger shifter on a 1x system (sram crank 28t) with no problems at all.
