Xtr rear derailleur cage mods

does anyone know if it is possible to use say the M972 long cages (79mm) inner and outers on a M980 or just the outer?

I know you can get Fibre-lyte carbon inner cages for the M980 but not seen any light looking carbon outers, only the M972s

looks like it may work, probably lower capacity with different stopping pin position

thanks, I am not running anything too big at the back 34 or 36, so might be worth a try or I'll just Dremel the front and change the rear.
