Does anyone have inside information on the availability of XT Di2 in stores? Specifically the RD-M8050-GS rear derailleur.

Thanks! July it is then...

Pricing will likely be comparable to Ultegra at around 170 euros (but maybe not right away)

hollandbikeshop.com has the M8050 rear derailleur available for 230 euro (since Wednesday); bike24.com has listed the M8070 front derailleur for a couple of weeks now (160 euro), though they don't know when the rear will arrive. The do have the new BT-DN110 battery in stock though, as well as the new Ant+ / Bluetooth EW-WU101 d-fly unit.

The XT Di2 M8070 front derailleur arrived as well, 131 grams without clamp (still waiting on the SM-FD905)

Also received the new BT-DN110 battery, 51 grams with another 5 grams for small parts; not sure whether those will be needed.

Yes I want to experiment with synchro-shift and half-step gearing (either 34/36 or 36/38 chainrings). Is the SC-MT800 required for this? From what I understood it is the derailleurs that determine whether you can configure synchro-shift, with only MTB Di2 derailleurs supporting this at the moment.

I'm still waiting for the crankset and it will probably take another three weeks so it'll be a while before I can report if it works with a regular SM-EW90-B junction box.

You need SC- for syncroshift. Otherwise you cannot change shifting patterns or go to manual mode.

Not even when you have the new D-Fly unit with bluetooth? Then you can use your phone (only iPad at the moment) to configure Di2. Oh well, we'll see :)

Shimano comatibility chart

SC-M9050, SC-M9051 or SC-MT800 is required for synchronized shift im MTB category (RD-M8050 = MTB category)

SC-M9050 + EW-WU101 can be used together (SC-M9050 for synchro shift, EW-WU101 for ipad configuration)
SC-M9051 or SC-MT800 don't need EW-WU101, and probably wont work together, according to chart:

*6 The system accepts just 1 unit with wireless chip. (doesn't work if plural units with wireless chip are connected)
