The 160mm is significantly heavier than the old version (89g).

Are you sure that you're not comparing against the old race x2 rotor?

160mm Hope X2 Race are 79g, "normal" 160mm Hope "saw" rotor is 92g so 105g is a bit of a weight gain

Here are the new ones 160mm in Orange. The weight gain compare the old model is really big. 2pcs on the scale.

Nope. they definitely are much heavier.

Hope SAW are my No. 1 choice as it is the best compromise between weight and importantly stopping power. Lighter rotors end up with less metal in the braking surface and either don't stop so well or judder when brakes are applied due to the gaps.

The next best "floating" rotors are these; Deckas brand; a couple grammes heavier, a lot cheaper and almost as good regards to stopping.
