Hi i have a 2013 Epic carbon Expert and i will change to the XTR M987´s

well my Question is this do i gain weight on the bike going XTR M987´s over the MT6´s
the bike is at 11.37kg´s as it is:
This is what´s done on it

XTR shifters
S-works enduro low riser
S-works barends
S-works 75mm stem
BG Contour XL grips
S-Works MTB seat post
Phenom Pro team edition saddle
S-works fast track front tyre
Fast track Control Rear tyre
tubes stock weight no idea
XTR M980 pedals

so my main question is will the M987´s be heavier than the Magura MT6´s?

Best regards
PekkaEpic :)

This post has pictures of MT8 Brakes at 370g/pair. The shimano M987's I believe to be 450g a pair, however not sure where the mt6 stack up in weight unfortunately. Also can you run i-spec on magura? I love the shimano brakes for power and the neatness of the i spec clamp (although a little more adjustability in the shifter position would be nice.) Either way, i spec saves a little more weight too.
Other than that I'm out of ideas, why are you not considering the formula R1's which seem to be the 'go to' brake for Weight weenie builds?

Well i have already ordered the XTR´s so i will try them and see how they are.
i don´t think they will be much heavier than the MT6´s or so i hope at least :)
Formula R1 are they that good?
I have never had Formula brakes before so i know very little about them

I have also never had Formula brakes, but they crop up an awful lot on the threads here. You just can't go wrong with Shimano, I personally love the look of the M987s and you know they are going to be reliable, which is always good to know!

Do you have a thread on here for your bike? It sounds like a super piece of kit! Just another weight saving idea, tubeless? And 1x10? If you haven't already.

How come you can't run a 1x10? What crank is that? And the BCD?

Hi
it is the Sram X0 crnaks but they caled it S-2200 BCD is 104.
I wonder i have very hilly terrain be it tarmac or off road it´s uphill every direction so i wonder is 1x10/11 preferable in such terrain?
What do i need for 1x10 conversion wanna get off as cheap as possible and i would very much like to use my 38T ring for 110, i have however understood it is not possible/ wel it is possible but not smooth, also i know i can use XX1/X01 crankset but again not optimal.

hope that helps a bit :)

Your crank have a removeable spider, just order from absolute black an spiderless chainring and throw away the front der and shifter...
if you need more range of gears so order a cassette adapter (bigger chainring at the rear), there are a lot on the market (oneup, wolftooth, absoluteblack)

by the way, very nice bike and weight :-)
