My kids gave me a MTB for X-mas, and I started to work on it today I cut the extra long brake cables and covers and saved 31.9g, I removed the front reflector 34.5g, rear reflector was 33.7g, and two wheel reflectors 36.5g, and four pedal reflectors 18.9g I also found out that drilling a ¼ inch hole in 3.88mm thick aluminum will remove 0.325g of aluminum. I drilled four ¼ holes on my seat clamp and saved 1.3g, I also drilled four holes on my from wheel clamp for a saving of 1.7g. I also changed my steel handle bar for Specialized XC6066. I don’t have a scale to measure this; I also cut 4 inches off my steel set post. what I do know is I saved 158.5g. I wonder what else can put a drill to it.

remove some stickers on your bike will save 15g. If yr specialized handle bar seem to be longer, cut it.

drilling is ok until

a) the holes fill up with dirt anyway
b) the component fails because the metal is supposed to be there!
.....but it still has to work!
