I've used the Xpedo's for a long time as well, but in the end I went back to XTR pedals.
This for the following reasons:
- Xpedo bearings wear out fast.
- XTR is more robust for mtbiking (i.e. if you hit a stone with your pedal).
- The larger contact area of XTR's tends to give me less sore feet at hot days.
- Great warranty with XTR components
I don't have any skeaking issues with my Spec Recon shoes. As a bit of a weightweenie myself, I started to give it a place that, while there are lighter options on the market, the XTR pedals are the best overall performing SPD pedal.
