Currently running Maxxis Rekon Race/Rekon both are around 850g. What is recommended for somewhat durable but lighter weight trail/xc tires, 700g range?

Anything described as a "trail" tire is going to be up there in weight... Perhaps you could get away with a Kenda Booster Pro SCT, at around 725g... Schwalbe is also pretty good at keeping their weight relatively low. And you can simply choose how chunky of a tread you want amongst their Thunder Burt, Racing Ralph, Racing Ray, Wicked Will, Nobby Nick etc...

R2bike.com is great for this, regardless of whether you buy from them, as you can filter by tire size, and then sort by weight, and they're good about actually weighing their products, and not just posting what the manufacturer states...

You are no longer really talking about TRAIL tires by the time you get down to 700g. I find the WolfPack Trail to be a respectably capable tire for a relatively modest weight @ ~850g. A crossking is also pretty capable with the right pressures around ~750g. If weight is the priority, do you really NEED a 2.4? maybe drop to a 2.25 and opt for greater tread depth as a compromise?

I'm a big fan of the Rekon btw, but I mostly run Wolfpack Race/Speed and CrossKings these days.

Even the wolfpack cross with 750 is pretty capable

Lightweight is a company. Light weight is a descriptor.

Kenda 2.4 are no more than 2.3 and mostly 2.25. They list the etrto as 61mm but that is a lie.

Cross King 2.3 are 2.3 and 750g.

Specialized Ground Controls in a 2.35 are a great (underrated) trail tire, they are also bombproof. I hit a rock so hard I exploded a carbon wheel but was able to re-use the tire. EDIT Just checked the website and they're listed at 850g for the tan walls which is weird becuase I have been running that tire for a few years (two pairs) and they were 750-770g when I weighed them.

It's really not that deep.

755g in a 2.4": https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equi ... e/p/27917/

I run an XR4 (800g in a 2.4") front XR3 rear combo and am quite happy
