Could you tell me what the weird notch in the lower headset race is for? it's not for an angleset, correct?

dang true commitment with the full disassembly. Can you actually replace any of the pieces of the frame with lighter alternatives?

I really wanted to ask you how you strip the paint off carbon - now i got my answer.
Is this safe for carbon? If it is, why people like Dangerholm scrape it using a knife?
