Re: Recommend a spare tubular for wide rims
Arenbergs or Roubaixs cost around $70ea/shipped from Probikekit. (Lowest prices I routinely see.) We all sense the cost pain first time out of the chute. But you will wear the rear significantly over the first 3k kilos. Swap 'em out then and use the old tire as your spare. Just avoid waiting too lon...

Re: Titanium Frames
My two main rides use CF ('15 Cannondale) and Ti ('94 Merlin w/threaded bb). The Merlin Extralight gives away nearly 750gr on the frame, alone. All the other components widen the overall weight penalty to almost 2kg. However, it gives a supreme ride that will last forever. It takes massive amounts o...

Re: Rim brake rims durability
I ride Dura Ace C-24's. I'm not a good descender and have done a number of HC climbs and descents over the last few years traveling to the French Alps twice, Pyrenees once Girona three times. Mallorca twice. The bottom line with all that braking my rims lasted under four seasons. Same wheels on my ...

Re: Cannondale size advise for rider which measure 5 feet 8 inches
I stand 5-7.5" with a 29" inseam, so my 52cm '15 Supersix EVO fits me best.
My longer torso meant using a longer stem. 120mm, if memory serves.
Friends give me crap for not much seatpost showing, but absent going custom, it works fine for me.

Re: Best bike for commuting
Seems like a good candidate for craigslist. We just returned from a Boston vacation. It included renting a decent roadbike. Not very cyclist-friendly in the downtown area - principally from a pothole perspective and the inability (illegal?) to take a bike on the rail lines. Since you're only commuti...

Very nice. Tubulars would shave off even more weight.

- first bike bought with one's own money
- first successful repair of (insert completed process here)
- first leadout on group ride

Re: KMC X11-SL Chain.
This KMC chain is a winner, IMO. About 4,800 kilos and no stretch or squeak.
Little bit pricey at around USD 50, compared to finding Dura Ace for about $35 or less.
My KMC was part of an assortment of bit$ to bring my Cannondale below 6.0kg. :p

Re: Thanks for TUBULAR, help I AM CONVERTED!!!
I recommend holding onto those awesome Shamals. You will take a bit of a bath on them. If you're lucky, they'll slot right in - in a pinch - without any brake pad adjustment. Like you, I'm a big convert to tubulars. It helped me bring a Supersix to under 6kg. Beautiful ride and handling that clinche...

Re: Estate v SUV for carrying bikes inside
With three beemers on your initial list, driving an Element will leave you less-than-thrilled. Nice utility, but gutless. My '14 Acura RDX takes two bikes lying down with wheels on. (Moving blanket on the carpet and one between bikes.) With wheels on, it mostly means soft duffels laid in an open spo...

You're officially riding on slicks! lol
My recommendation is to swap out for the new one and carry the old as your spare.
Probably lighter than a Tufo, as well.
My rear Veloflex is approaching similar territory at 1,200 miles. Thinking it's worth another 500.

Yeah, remember to block you GPS physical address location on your account, so the whole internet doesn't know where your precious bikes "Live" ;) ... Louis :) Point taken. Re: Campagnolo 12-Speed
No doubt, Shimano and SRAM will follow suit with their own 12-speed.
Wonder, however, if everyone will skip 13-speed. You know, like floors on an elevator.
"Yep, just got the new 14-speed gruppo. Doggone if I count only 13 cogs back there!"

Re: Most Well Known Online Bike Retailers?
Seems higher end shoppers would check Performance before Amazon, but I could be wrong.
When looking for a fendered rain bike, I came close once with Probikekit.
Ended up buying one of their frames and building it myself. Resulted in a better bike for the same price.

Always liked their seatposts from twenty years ago. Spiffy design.
