Re: Do I really need Dynaplug or the like?
I've riding 100% tubeless on all bikes for 2+ years, and I carry a Dynaplug Racer within easy reach so I can plug most holes before losing much air. I carry a Stans Dart as a backup for larger holes but haven't had to use it yet. Starting this spring, I stopped carrying tubes at all except MTB rides...

Re: Best bike you've owned!!
Best road bike in absolute terms: 2020 S-Works Venge AXS. It's just perfect in performance: Light enough to climb well, super responseive acceleration, very stiff and stable front end for high speed handling, and (with 28c tubeless tires) surprisingly comfortable. There are many very thoughtful desi...

Re: Climbing on a stiff/aero frame
It depends on the aero frame/bike. I have a 4 year old Argon 18 Nitrogen Pro that is built up very light with DA and Bora 60 wheels, which is a fast climber but a little bit of a truck descending and lacks braking power on top of that. I have a new Venge S-Works with Red AXS and CLX 50 wheels which ...

Re: Do You Run Tubeless AND Carry a Spare Tube?
I have 8 bikes and even more wheelsets and am 100% tubeless for ~2 years. I used to carry a tube for road rides (still do for gravel and MTB), but stopped for two reasons: First, I never flat on the road. Had to plug once in thousands of miles. Maybe my roads are less hazardous (Seattle area). Secon...

Re: New Continental 5000S Tires - Tubeless Compatible
I wonder if Conti made a running change to the diameter of the 5000 TL. I just swapped 3 wheelsets to those tires (Enve 3.4 Disc, Campy Bora 60 WTO Disc, and Roval CLX 50 disc), and the experience setting them up was appropriately challenging. What I mean is that they were tight, but not at all the ...

Re: Blocking off vents on helmet
I used black duct tape to cover the front vents of a yellow/green Bontrager Ballista that has black trim. I use it as my winter helmet. I trimmed the tape with scissors to match the shape of the vents.

Re: Best Tubeless tires for 2020?
If you have calipers, could you please measure the actual width of those tires on those rims? It's hard to find actual widths of the Rapidairs. Thanks!

Re: Alu Clinchers with Ceramic/dark Brake Tracks
Glad to see your coated Altamonts are holding up well. I have a pair that are from the very first batch, and riding in wet Seattle winter, the coating was gone after about 3,000 km.

Re: Holy Grail: Road disc brakes that don't rub
I agree with you, OP. I like disc brakes on a few of my road bikes. But in wet grit, they are too noisy. I live in Seattle and ride all winter, and my rain bike has rim brakes (long reach calipers). I use Hed Black rims that stop great in wet and frozen conditions. I use Shwalbe 30c G One Speed tire...

Re: Alu Clinchers with Ceramic/dark Brake Tracks
I live in th Seattle area and ride all winter in rain (base training). I use Hed Ardennes Black wheels. The coating and machining are very durable despite the gritty conditions I ride in. The braking in all conditions is far more immediate, powerful, and consistent than any 'normal' silver alloy ri...
