Re: Cyclocross build on a budget need Pedal suggestion?

Yes, I have found my shoes after a "spirited" acceleration to not be centered on the pedal. I don't like that either. You can engage off center also. Kind of annoying.

Re: Cyclocross build on a budget need Pedal suggestion?

They work & they are white That's about it for me. I still don't like the full float but I have adjusted. The one thing that really drives me nuts about them is that they squeak like crazy if you don't keep your cleats greased. I mean every ride you need to put some type of grease or oil where y...

Re: Cyclocross build on a budget need Pedal suggestion?

I decided to try Look pedals being that they look good on the bike & I had a connection to get a good price. I hate the float, but I'm learning to deal with it. The thing is, I built the bike to replace the road bike in bad weather & to explore trails & dirt roads. I'm basically running ...

Re: Cyclocross build on a budget need Pedal suggestion?

Thanks for the tip. I'm still tweaking my setup & need to get some more dirt under my hoofs. What you see there is a cross between my road setup & a guess at where I'll want things for cross. Definately will be moving things around...

Re: Cyclocross build on a budget need Pedal suggestion?

I just received the same feedback from a friend who races Cross. Thanks! I guess no one really makes a "No Float" Cross pedal. Guess it is what it is. I'll see what I can find. Not sure I want to put Shimano on a Campy Bike, Guess that's the Roadie in me Here is a pic of what I have so far...

Re: What cross bike should I get

I'm not a Cross expert, first off. However, I just bought a Scattante Cross frame for $200, new. I build up a set of wheels & threw some road components on it I had laying around, after painting the frame flat black & adding my decals(Note: Rebranding is done by the pros, I'm just a copy cat...

Cyclocross build on a budget need Pedal suggestion?

Been a while, Sorry. I just built a Cross Bike using a cheap frame & a mix of ebay & left over components I have from a road bike. Now that I have the thing rolling & have taken her out on an offroad adventure I have realized the limitations of my road pedals. Problem is this, or is it?....

Re: Radio Shack?

Lance was chatting up quite a few of the "Star" cyclists during the first half of the race. Many of whom may be available at the end of the season. Could get interesting....

Riding Portland, OR USA

What are the best climbs near Portland? Anything within driving/riding distance that is epic? I've done Counsel Crest but would like to find more, maybe better, on my next trip.

Thanks

I presume everyone is aware that tubs are no more likely to puncture than clinchers. It's just bad luck. I use tubs on my commuter bike (which I use at least 5 times a week) - I've had two punctures in 3 years. Jeeeeziz! You either ride two miles a month or your roads are a hell of a lot better tha...

I haven't had much luck with pitstop. Most sealants seem to need a few hours to set up before they work at all. Depending on the hole, sometimes the sealant never works

A slice may be tough to mend & unpredictable. I'd prefer to have a new tire.

I'm 6'. I had a 54cm. I was fairly new to riding at the time & found it unbalanced. If your fairly skilled it may be ok. I'm a little long torso'd. A 56.5 to 57cm top tube feels best to me in most cases.
