I agree.
I wanted to ask the group about Heart Rate Monitors, GPS,
and that sort of gadget that deals with training...

Very interested myself. My Polar HRM is as important as the bike. I never do a ride without it. Not so much for racing purposes because that doesn't interest me, but it can act as a sign of improved fitness or a warning signal. For instance, I suffer periodically with malaria. The last time it hit me I received an inadvertent warning sign on my HRM. At the start of my ride my heart rate went up at a much faster rate than normal and after about 30 minutes i stopped. It was near my usual threshhold that I ride at (approx 140 BPM). About 3 days later I got the malaria full-on and felt lousy for about 3 weeks.
It's a very handy tool to have.

thanks Florian for the sticky. i think we need a place to discuss training and diet. this forum (weight weenies) is growing and i think expanding and adding a training forum is essential.

yeah! lets do it
And how about an off topic? just to chat. It will make the place the best to hang out on the net!

adding a training section may still be a little restrictive? maybe a general section were other issues such as training etc can be discussed?

I'd like it.
I am considering doing the Californian Triple Crown this year (it's three very hilly Double Centuries - rides of 200 miles each to those not up on the lingo) and I have a feeling some of what I need to know could be found here. An appropriate forum to post on would be great.

Ride lightly!

OK, the result of the poll was clear: the
Training forum is now open.
To you native English speakers:
is "A light bike doesn't supersede good fitness" correct or does the sentence sound strange to you?

Thank you Florian!
"A light bike doesn't replace good fitness" makes more sense to me.
