I wanted to hit sub 14 lbs with my Litespeed Vortex and with the purchase of my new wheelset and saddle I hit my goal and came in even much less than I had anticipated. I scaled in grams for those that prefer metric.

Divve, I haven't scaled the frame alone. I will be taking it a part this winter to put new cables on and re-coat everything with anti-seeze and I'll scale it then but I would gues it's slightly under 3 lbs.

Here's the current build list:

Thanks! It's been a work in progress. I'm buiding another Litespeed I picked up that the front triangle is a Litespeed Classic with the foil seat and chain stays from a 2005 Vortex. It's a one of a kind.

On to the cranks. The Pulsions are great cranks. Plenty stiff and the CT2 rings work very well. The crankset, 172.5, scaled 415 grams without the mounting bolts. The only thing negative I can say about them is that since the surface is not clear coated they can get scatched easily. I used the FSA alloy mounting bolts since self extractors can be a pain to work with and the FSA's are 21 grams lighter.

Why not switch the Thompson post for a lighter one?

Sticks out like a neon light in terms of ww upgrades...

The 6.4 tubing on the frame is so resistant to clamping force that requires a very high amount of torque too get it to clamp a post securely. I've had several light weight clamps and broke or stripped out the bolts trying to get them to hold the seatpost in place since the recommended torque by the clamp manufacturer's wasn't enough force to crimp the seat tube to hold the post. Because of that I would be concerned about damaging a carbon post. I'm open to any suggestions on a lighter post that is a center over. I know I could get a bold but I prefer a black post. I also know there are a few other area's I could drop weight in a few other areas and some of those upgrades I question the durability, but nothing significant, and the cost would mean skipping my daughter's college payment.

I can't find any info, from looks alone, it appears to be alloy...

I had a Alien and I know they changed the clamp. BTW Alien and Thomson Masterpiece weigh the same. The Alien clamp wouldn't be my first choice for use on all carbon fiber seat rails. The Thomson's clamp is really ideal as far as putting the least amount of stress on the rails.

I have never had a Thompson post myself, but a ridingbuddy of mine has one and I think it looks really nice! He's very happy with it (not a WW though) You could make a switch to Schmolke/AX/M2-racer if you really want to save weight, they all make a very light straight post. The new ultimate is alloy as well, but IMO doesn't look as nice as the Thompson, but it is a bit lighter. (about 30 gr.?)

Really nice bike btw. :thumbup:
