I finished building up my Open and ready to hit the trails. I know there's still some meat on the bone as far as weight but I didn't want to set the bar too high and I think it's still pretty light for a MTB. Thanks for taking a look and of course comments and suggestions are more than welcome, I'm pretty new to the MTB world.

Frame: Large (435)
Drivetrain: SRAM XX1 32 tooth front.
Brakes: Magura MT8 disc 160 rear, 180 front
Wheels: Stan's FlowEX I built with CX-ray spokes and DT-240 hubs
Tires: Conti Mountain King 2.2's
Seat post: Syntace P6 Hi-flex
Stem: Syntace MegaForce 70mm
Bar: Syntace Vector 10mm rise 8° sweep
Fork: Sid XX WC
Saddle: Fizik Gobi carbon rail
Weight: 9.74kg

I'd be wanting a big ring on those cranks

that chainring is normal with XX1, seen it in the flesh myself, they put some mental cassette on the rear.

32 tooth was the "default" ring it came with. It feels like the pretty correct size so far for me. When paired with the 10 tooth cog it's a reasonably high gear.

Very nice! I sure do love how clean those frames are, especially with XX1!
The 32t should give a pretty good range with that casssette! You only loose the hardest and easiest gear from a 38t/26t with an 11-36 in the back.

Nice bike! I'd flip your fork lockout switch to the left side and under the bar. More ergonomic and it'll make things look more symmetric as well. I do the same with my Reverb remote.

Thanks Colin, it does seem like a pretty good range to me.

Thanks deek, I give that a go. Those clamps open up all the way so it will be easy to try that out.

Much appreciated deek and tonytourist. I think it looks better and is more functional this way too.

No problem! It's definitely easier to use, in my opinion.
I'm patiently waiting for my xx1 group to come in, can't wait to get it!

Lovely frame.

I've always wondered what they were thinking behind that branding decision. Considering the term "Open Mold" is out there in the land of Taiwanese carbon manufacturing and the branding is so sparse on a plain black frame. Just feels over-priced and poorly marketed.

nice bike

I would ditch those ?fizik? grips in favor of ESI chunky or racer edge, much lighter, much more slick and nice too. Probably more confortable as well.

Thanks, yeah I picked them solely based on color. Not the best decision I fear. They aren't very comfortable, almost zero padding. I'll probably live with them for a while but they won't be replaced with more fizik grips for sure.

I just did my first ride on XX1 tonight. LOVED IT! I have a 38 ring on my Salsa. What is the biggest ring that would fit your frame? Just curious.
