Did my first testride today with the 650B wheelset on my Scott Spark RC. It was great to be back on my fully again and the wheels felt really good. Normally I don't hope for a muddy ride but today I wished for it because I wanted to check out if there would be any clearance problems.

If I hadn't tried 29er before I think I would have thought it was the best because it feels fine and rolls good over technical parts but it felt a bit like missing that special rolling feeling that the 29er wheels have. The handling is much better than on my 29er - maybe because my fully frame is smaller but probably also because of the wheels. Much easier to throw the bike around.

Clearance wasn't a issue even though it looks tight front and rear - didn't hear any buzzing because of mud on the tires. Have a look :-)

I had a "properly" sized Fisher Marlin single speed (small for my 5'5", 30" inseam). Even with a custom valved Fox RLC fork (which was amazing btw, custom valving changes everything), it felt like a garbage truck lumbering through the forest. I'd gladly take the snappier feel of the 650b even if it means I'm a little slower in rock gardens and such.

Sorry to hear that your 29er didn't fit you - mine 29er is just great and I still really like it. The Spark is just more fun when it get to bumpy :-)

I have the same bike with the DT XRC 100 fork. I'm looking at trying the 650B on the front as well but with a 2.25 Rocket Ron, do you think this is possible with your fork?

I'm pretty sure that a 2.25" tire will be to wide and you have to modify the brake arch on the fork but then again - I don't know how much free clearance is actually needed.

After a fair deal of rides on the 27.5" wheels it's a bit hard getting used to the 29er wheels :-)
