Saw the new release of the mapei paint scheme and had to have one. Been 5 weeks since I ordered a C59 mechanical in it, hopefully only another month or so before it arrives here in Oz.
Unfortunately due to my inflexible back, I had to stick with a sloping frame, traditional head tube is just too short for me.
Planned build is:

Wheels : lightweight Meilenstein c
tyres: Vittoria Corsa Evo CX
Saddle: Selle Italia Colnago SLR flow white (purchased)
Stem: Colnago Nemesis black
Bar: Colnago HB01 carbon bar
Tape: Lightweight cork white (purchased)
Cages: lightweight (should be released here same time frame arrives, about a month)
Pedals: Speedplay zero stainless black (purchased)
Groupset: Campag SR titanium (can't validate the expense of electronic, and that battery size!!!)

Decided to do colnago bar and stem as i like the shape of the stem, and then the bar will just match. Always wanted lightweights so thats why they are the choice (I prefer clinchers, I have had tubs). Just decided on lightweight cages and tape to keep everything simple, not that interested on breaking weight barriers, just a nice flow of colour and parts.

Any suggestions to part changes would be appreciated.
Frame comes standard with white seat post, but I am going the half carbon, half white seat post, as then i can do a black stem without it looking out of place.

Nice !,

I am thinking on one too.

But what you say about traditional having the head tube too short, is not correct, between a equivalent sloping like 52s and a traditional 56cm the head tube is the same.

Maybe you need more standover ? short legs ?

No, you're right, it does look out of place, far rather the traditional Colnago typeface imo

Can you get the Integrated bar/stem that's painted to match?

I also don't like that font. Why do they insist on changing it?

It is kind of surprising, the Colnago management doesn't seem to get it.

It is clear they want to modernize the Brand, and leave behind the traditional "old man bike" image.

Internal cable routing, oversized steerers, electric only frames, road disks etc etc. and with that, more modern paintjobs and a new logo.

That could be very good on the new monocoque models, TT frames, even in the Ferrari models.

But what they don't get is that us, the people who will buy a lugged frame, with sculpted tubes, that is the continuation of the tradition master/c40/c50 are exactly that.

Traditionalists.

We want on the C59 that would replace our loved C50s or C40s a traditional geometry, lugs and classic paintjobs.

also why call it C59 ? why they don't give us a C-60 version with full classic paintjobs and not those ugly Orange and White Art Decor they put out last year ?

I can see putting the new Font on the standard "Team Edition" C59s, but on a Mapei special edition ? countersense.
I would buy a C-60 on a real Mapei World Champion paintjob if it is avaliable, without thinking it twice.

A bit of advice for you, Signor Colnago ... look forwards, not back. The Mapei paint scheme belongs in the 1990s.

That font is a huge mistake from a branding perspective. It doesn't look bad at all, actually quite nice. But more people identify the brand through the word Colnago in the traditional font than from the clover leaf logo. The company just pissed away some serious brand equity. Could you imagine Porsche radically altering the front end of the 911? Or BMW changing the shape of their front grill? Same thing here. An established company needs to be very careful with this stuff.

Still a very beautiful bike though.

That "new" logo (looks like a crappy freeware font) created a huge shitstorm on their facebook page a few months ago.

As a result they announced they will keep the original and discard their logo changing plans...
