Aluminium Bike Thread

I really like my Tsunamis. I have two, here is the other one:
Shortly after ordering the second one with racier geometry, I had a bit of a buyer's remorse because my original one is perfectly fine and frankly fits me better which is why I tried selling the red one. Anyways, mine are plenty stiff (I have never noticed any flex), the handling is great (56-58 mm trail on my bikes), and they ride well with the right tire/pressure combination. The frames are not very light (about 1,500 g for mine, which are essentially 56 cm frames), but neither am I so the mass hasn't bothered me.
As for the P6 Hiflex seatpost, it seems to mute the bigger bumps pretty well. Other than that, I can't say I notice a huge difference between it and the Ritchey aluminum seastpost on my other one. As you can see, I don't have a whole lot of seatpost showing so maybe the difference would have been a bit more dramatic if more of it was exposed.

This bike is from around 1999, full alu eaton elite tubing and a kinesis alu fork with some heavy rigida rim, the bike is heavy but the look is just amazing.
This bike is also in exellent condition. Sorry for the saddle angle, it was just for the picture but i have missed the upper nose before seing the pictures.

Here are mine.

Not at all fancy, but I did build it up pretty light. It really is a nice riding frame, I think I had it at 21 lbs with all the parts off my Voodoo D-Jab.

Not a full bike, and the frame is cracked, but it is the first bike I won a race on... A crit Yes, its a mtb

The Klein is also Aluminum, the S-works (at the front) is a '92 steel frame built up with Sun Tour XC Pro 8 spd, and all the vintage aftermarket cool stuff I can find. The Voodoo is Ti, with a ton of cool aftermarket parts, ti bottom bracket, cassette, chainrings, bars, ect.

The Klein Adpept Pro carbon. It sits in the corner and I haven't ridden it in years.

My Carl Strong built custom frame. It cracked in a couple places so now its wall art.

I also have a polished SC7000 tubed Action-Tec, serial # 1 (actually it doesn't even have a serial number, it was the prototype that I designed and raced back in '00-01.) That you can just see in the background of the pic above. It was sub 20lbs with full knobbies. I don't happen to have a picture of it that I can link to. Its a sweet frame but the derailleur hanger is damaged. Hopefully someday I can find someone who can fix it. To go with it,
Will

Yeah it was pretty fast. It got down a hill very fast. It took a fatal blow a couple weeks ago. It now has a quarter sized dent in the side of the top tube. It might still be ok for a ITT bike, but as for crits and bombing down rough technical roads, I think its all done.
I think I'm going to go for a Ti frame for its replacement. I'm leaning heavily toward a custom Dean El Diente that uses the same geometry. If the bottom bracket looks tall to you, it is. It makes cornering in the gutter in a crit a whole lot more safe since I don't strike pedals. I think the Dean could be built as stiff if not more so at about the same weight with no worry of a fatigue failure.

I really like this thread, and I really like aluminum frames, there I said it. Sure some have been poor, many have been average, and then a few have just been fantastic... I've kept this one for three years now, still going strong.
