Hi SWijland.
This bike is made for Copenhagen City Terrain ! (No Mountains or muddy Woods here !)
I can't fit "Proper" MTB tires on this bike !
For offroad only.jpg

I like the fastness, and the precision of slim hard pumped slicks (PSI 85-90).

-What I dislike, with nobby tires in City Terrain :

-If You enter a sharp curve, all the nobs bend slightly, resulting in Understeering. -Also called drifting. Very dangerous if other riders/cars, are close.
Drift and bad vibrations.jpg

- The nobs, slows the free rolling (and riding), like if the brakes are "hanging" !
- The Constant humming sounds from tires, are so enervating. (The Sound of Friction...)
- Ground contact is very reduced (1:3), resulting in poor (longer) braking.
- The terrible micro vibrations in hands and arms. (especially on a stiff HT w. rigid forks)

I have several wheelsets, and of course I will fit some Fat Nobby tires on a set, for the occasional day in the Wild Nature !
-But for now, the Comfort, Speed and Precision (safety), -are of the highest priority.
(I also got MTB's with suspension-forks, MTB cassette and proper MTB tires, but they are not WW's, Just normal strong bikes, that eats mud and stones)

This projekt is really cool, i have been watching your old tread from the start and you get thumps up for Not building a fixie bike. But a real bike that can be ridden in the city and actiully works :-)

Thanks vfb.
I No Like Fixie bikes in the city traffic !
They are Very dangerous for rider, and Fellow road users !
Not made for interaction with others.
- No true braking system !
- Crank-arms turn constantly, also in Sharp corners (have fun) !
- Ultra short flat-bar = Weak control of the 700c Wheel !

Often they are made from daddys old retro-racer. -Strip off the "complicated stuff"(gears n brakes), -Spray-can the frame, -Hacksaw the road-bars= short flat, -and buy fixed hub ! -One piece of Trendy Bike !
I'd rather walk...

Here some pics. with 1.35 Kojak front tire, and 1.50 Maxxis rear !

Very respectable weight there! Nice build :) Unfortunately, it may be a little dangerous to leave it locked and unattended in Copenhagen :/

Hi kgt.
-You're right.
...I was in Photographing-mode !
-The pics were shot, and then I tried to ride..-I slipped forwards ! Very wrong level, indeed !

Here is another saddle fitted (the first Selle Italia carbon-ti Flite at 149gr.).
This time, in perfect Racing level.

Regarding locking and leaving the bike....Don't try this, if Your bike is worth more than Your shoes !
-Where I go ,-bike goes ! 7kg. and 55cm handlebar...even in packed elevators !
-Locking (with top quality Locks) and leaving... False security ! All Locks can be "fixed" in minutes...with the right tools.

God aften bontyboy, and thanks.
Weight Weenies is the Ultimate Forum for Light Builds. Therefore, all the parts on My bike, are well considered regarding Light Weight.
For this build though, Strenght and Durability (and looks) have a slightly higher priority, than just Lowering the weight !
Come on... -Frame is 1600gr. , -Magura tp.1 , -Heavy Duty Wheels...

No offence, but what's the point of running two topics about the same bike?

Excactely, fixie bikes are just stupid and very dangerous and offen the even don`t wear a helmet. i have tried one once, and it was fun because it was in a closed area. but in the traffic without brakes and no freewheel it just seems stupid to me. Bikes without a freewheel belongs to the track!
keep us updated on this awesome project :-)
