I use grip shift with shimano front and rear ders., I like it much more than shimano shift levers, as i can shift several gears with a small movement. I like it much more than sram with gripshift, because as shimano has a shorter cable ration, the movement in the grip shift it's much smaller than with full sram.
Happy Trails !!!

There is no need to make a move back to 952. Change the cable housing, adjust the derailleur precisely and it must work fine.

If your Der housing is not one uninterrupted piece, make sure you use housing end caps with o-ring seals. If the housing is not prelubed like Shimano sp41 and Jagwire L3/LEX, then lube the cable prior to insertion.
there is no reason why your current setup can't be made to be reasonably tolerant of sand and mud.

Shorter caged derailleurs for ground clearance?
I used to have an M952 short-caged RD when I started racing and looking at how messy other people's long caged derailleur after muddy races got me sold with short-caged RDs and had all my MTBs installed with Dura-ace RDs on 2x9 setups. Now I want to try XX1 on two bikes and hope I didn't make the wrong decision.
