Here's how I see it as someone who has recently had bikes equipped with Dura Ace, XTR, X0, Red and Chorus 11.
Shimano: No nonsense quality and performance. Terminator aesthetic.
SRAM: Cheap, Light, and feels that way. Trendy graphics and features that I find gimicky.
Campa: Superior build quality. Performance on par with Shimano. Timeless, Elegant, and Italian (in the good & bad ways...)
It is personal preference however I personally have found SRAM to be substandard in performance compared to the others. I eventually swapped out the chain/cassette/front der. on my last couple SRAM bikes to Shimano/KMC... I will not go back to SRAM.

Opinions?
Remind me how many Shimano equipped bikes have won the TdF? It's about as many as SRAM isn't it?

^^^ TdF hasn't been won on Campy since Pantani ^^^^
Here's a nifty article for who rides what this season:

Shimano dominates protour and pro conti.

That has been ruled as seven years ago, not fourteen.russianbear wrote:^^^ TdF hasn't been won on Campy since Pantani ^^^^
You forget Oscar Pereiro in 2006, btw. And if you want "on the road"-victories, Landis was on Campagnolo too that year.

Since when has a component group set, bicycle or inanimate object won anything for that matter?
I call doodoo on this argument.
We can argue this all day and come up with the same answer. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

I never took drugs to improve my performance at any time. I will be willing to stick my finger into a polygraph test if anyone with big media pull wants to take issue. If you buy a signed poster now it will not be tarnished later. --Graeme Obree

Until the machines take over it won't happen.

From a cycling purists pov I assume Campag will always be where it begins and ends with them. I love my Shimano DA but would love SR one day.
