Looks like I will be moving to Stockholm this summer. Can anyone give me any helpful info about racing or local group rides? I'm not really sure how licenses will work, I am a USA cycling holder. I assume I'll need a UCI international licence?

:welcome:

You will need a UCI racing license if you are planning to enter some real races, in granfondo type of races you can buy a single day license. I think that you will need some kind of paper from your own national USA cycling?

Depending where you are gonna live there are several clubs in Stockholm. Fredrikshof and CK Valhall is two clubs that have popular club rides. The terrain is flat around Stockholm but there are some nice roads. Stockholm is beatiful in the summer and is a great place to live, enyoy your stay!

Stockholm in the summer is quite lovely! Already visited a few times. Thanks for the club info.

Are there many non grand fondo races available during the summer?

As for group rides, look up "Brostugan", there are group rides every tuesday and thursday from this location. It's located very near Drottningholm. These are run by Fredrikshof, one of the bigger clubs. Usually there are two or three groups, depending on how fast you are. Avoid the slow groups, very often very inexperienced riders...

The rides take place over a big island area, very scenic with lots of rolling hills. An absolute treat.

There are races every weekend during the summer and some smaller on weekdays also.

Here is the swedish racing calendar: http://public.indta.idrottonline.se/Eve ... x?orgId=42

"Smack-serien" is a popular racing series during the weekdays. Find info here: http://smack.se/smackweb/smackserien2013

Don`t know if you can read swedish.
