I came across this picture in another thread of Froome during the Tour of Beijing TT where the teams did not bring their aero bikes:

You can see he has four doughnut shaped silicone looking devices on his bars so that he can more comfortably and with more control get into an aero TT position with his road bars.

Any idea what those are? Or a good substitution?

I suspect it is the very hightech solution known as 'Bartape with insulation tape wrapped over to hold it down'

It makes it more comfortable but also because it provides a bit of a valley for your forearms you can see how it would ad control and safety to it, too.

Bar tape and electrical tape is a solid idea. I was thinking something that came shaped like that or a silicone strip of something bonded together. Clearly thinking too hard as nobody can imagine what that something would be.
