Silly question, but what bar grips do you guys use/recommend? I know some people use bar tape, but the end plug is too big for the narrow opening on mountain bikes (at least with my RXL carbon bars). Thanks!

This is going to sound like a "duh" response, but you don't have to use the bar plugs that come with the tape.
One trick so you can avoid finishing tape on a Mtb bar is to superglue the end down. It works very well.
I use ESI chunky grips.

I'm just worried about the dust entering the bars at the ends, which is why I asked. I have no problem using tape on the bars, but was wondering if anyone had put any thought into the grips, or is it more of an afterthought?

I like Ritchey WCS. They cost nothing, weigh 42g and last forever.
ESI Chunky and Racer's Edge are the other popular weenie grips.

Ritchey are my favorites. Bontrager foam are nice as well. 8 euros, 30gr.

Bar tape for me. I use the plastic bar plugs from el cheapo rubber grips. The best thing about bar tape is that you can make it as thicker as you like by altering the amount of overlap or even making multiple layers. And it is comfy... and lightweight...

I'm going to try to fit some leftover road bar ends in, and see if that works. If it does, I'll go with bar tape. If not, I'll give the ESI's a shot, since they're relatively cheap on Amazon.

I picked up a set of the ESI Chunky's off Amazon. Mounted them on my Cobia, so I'll be trying them out there while I build the Superfly. I'll give a full report when I'm done. I can tell you, off the bat, they feel more comfortable than the Bontrager SSR's on there before.

Oh, and BTW, the ESI grips are true to advertised weight (60g).
