I notice quite a lot of Cannondales in this thread with spacers above the stem. I've just taken delivery of my SuperSix and want to lower the stem a bit (it came with lots of spacers under it), but Cannondale say not to use spacers above the stem. Did you guys just ignore this advice, or do you have another solution?

solution lower your stem and cut the steerer for maybe a 2mm spacer above it OR top cap hella flush.
they are saying this because of the compression plug thing they use. That if you have a mountain of spacers the expander bit , isn't even expanding where the stem is clamping. It'll be expanding higher than it. The expander thing expands so that the carbon steerer is a tad more sturdy.
too many steerers left unchopped!

Yes, understood. I just didn't want to cut it straight away, until I've tried a few different heights. Without moving spacers above the stem, that doesn't seem possible. I was just wondering what people who had posted here had done, as there seem to be lots of above-stem spacers on show.

As long as you don't have 20+mm above you should be fine in the short term.
