11 speed Shimano free hub body with 10 speed DA cassette
Moderator: robbosmans
I have received my wheels from built. Built on Tune Mag/Mig 170/70 tubless rims Stan's 340 mode year is 2013 24/28 CX Ray spokes. As I mentioned 11speed freehub body. I haven't receive with it the spacer (1.8mm) in order to use my 10 speed cassette Dura Ace 28/11. Never the less I installed the 10 speed DA cassette with the 1mm spacer it comes with and there is no freedom at all but the ride is "heavy" feeling, it seems like it is very difficult to accelerate with the wheelset. I can compare it to my Zipp 404 tubular wheelset I have (almost the same weight with my current wheels around the 1300 gram for pair) but so much different...! I'm waiting for the 1.8mm spacer to arrive but I wonder if the lack of this spacer can be the cause of this "heavy" acceleration feeling or it has nothing to do with it and it is most probably the wheels alone. Ill love to hear your take on that.

I don't see how having too few spacers would make it feel that way. Too many spacers could do that, causing everything to be compressed together too hard and bind up, but too few spacers should only cause the cassette to slide around and mis-shift.
Another thing to consider is your tires/tubes. What do you have on each of the wheelsets?

I've ridden a few sets of Hutchinsons.......they felt pretty awful but that was many many years ago....surely they got better??
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!
Edit: 2015: darn near won the best South Island series (got second in age

Doubt it's a spacer issue. Do both wheels spin freely when mounted in the frame?
If they do, I'd be inclined to swap out the Fusions for a borrowed pair of Conti GP4s clinchers (& tubes) just to see how that felt in comparison.

Those Fusion 3's are heavy. I had the Intensives ("25mm") previously, and was unimpressed with their ride quality. Although the Fusions are lighter, it isn't by much. I would recommend running the Atoms, or swapping over to another manufacturer's offerings. I've read that the Bontrager R3 Tubeless tires are good (the R2's are not as good, from what I have heard).

Thanks for all your comments. I have add the 1mm spacer while I am waiting for the 1.85mm to arrive. I can't say it's the spacer because it can be many other things but I have rode the bike again with the 1mm spacer and I adjust the pressure in the Fusion for 80 front and 90 rear and the ride was good, the feeling was nice, the speed and acceleration was what expected even though it wasn't my hilly route. Ill keep to update soon
Thanks!
