Giant Killer. Stealth Carbon Side Project. Built.

Whilst waiting for my proper frame to be built I've taken on a little side project.

Giant TCR Composite/Team Once. Large.
Racing number boss under top tube.
Some of the clearcoat was bubbling so I decided to strip it all back.
Still needs a bit of finishing off.

Raced this exact frame (& colour scheme) for 5yrs, very durable if not a little harsh. Clear coat bubbled on mine as well.

Been meaning to the same thing to an older Giant frame for a while now. They are really cheap to come by and very light.

Ok, that's nice. What did you use to strip it?

Started with a razor blade but it was pretty tricky with the transfers on the curves. Ending up using a mix of wet and dry and fine wire wool. 800 to start with (but I'd use corser next time) then finished off with 1200 and 0000 wire wool. I've not gone through all the clear coat. Only that over the decals. I then applied a clear wax (boot dubbin) which really brings out the carbon and masks any scratches.

Some weight can be lost should I decide.

Very nice. Just the seatpost, hmm, I've only liked one single bike so far with this seatpost.

Looks great, and definitely doesn't make me want to get a Giant any less!
