Can't agree that it is bad!
I'm riding it for over than year and it seems to be very good! Of course you can't use it in downhill or too extrem conditions. Actually I have tried it in extrem conditions too and it seems to be normal!
It is possible to break it too!
I'm going to buy another one!

Light weight everything!
I have had the Alien carbon for over 2 yrs now one of the early prototypes, and have not had a single issue with it.
Yes its a little tricky to set-up at first but once its on its on, no big deal.
My friend owns one too and he is renowned for breaking bike parts and is a heavy hand with his XC equipment and he has not managed to break it....yet!!

BTW 'Guest', what were you doing to make it snap like that?
doesnt need much to break that post. the thin cross-section directly below the clamping mechanism just doesnt hold up much stress...
its kinda strange if this post DOES NOT break under "normal conditions". sure, its pretty light - pretty light crap

I read this user's review of this seat post on mtbr. He had a spill that only resulted in the head clamp breaking off, no other injury to himself or the Trek. FWIW...
