Well Sagan and Oss are ex team mates so good to keep the friendship up even though on opposing teams. I mean come on, it's only sport, (and of cousre these people's livlihoods too) so have some fun, lighten up and stuff. Is there anyone equivalent in the womens field that does the same thing as Sagan? Seems a little more light hearted on that side of the fence.

Pren you're talking about him like he's the second coming. Attitudes to women like that seem to fall more in line with an older generation than a new one. You're typically the first person to defend women's racing in this thread, so it seems like a bit of hypocrisy to me. Age? I dont know about the states or slovakia, but here respect for women is taught at a young age, so immaturity can hardly be called a defence. Your photo of him going for a podium girls ass hardly reinforces your point that he is blissfully ignorant of what he is doing (or wearing). I'm not sure where you got the idea that wearing a suit instantly gives you class. OJ simpson pulled on a suit for his murder trial.


Don't get me wrong, I like watching Sagan race, he is one of the few that makes the races enjoyable to watch, and potentially appeals to people outside of cycling. My point is that before he is held up as an ambassador for the sport, he may need a little polishing. With an attitude like what is suggested on his shirt, my respect for him is limited to the road.

At least to me, a sports star to admire is someone that conducts themselves appropriatly both on and off the field.

Man all you guys need to settle down. Who cares what his shirt says or his victory celebrations. It's clear he's having fun with what he's doing and what's wrong with that? Sometimes people need to lighten up. It's not like the guy is performing open heart surgery while hungover from the night before.

Hey dude. First, I make no claims that he's the second coming: I just like him (along with many others) in the peloton.
As for attitudes to women, you are correct, that definitely is an older generation... but, also a current one, sadly. You're forgetting the context with him: grew up in a small town (80k population right now, assumed growth since he was born) in Eastern Europe, has probably not attended higher education (university), has had little exposure to the world outside of where his cycling career and sponsorship took him. The modernism, including attitudes towards women, will have to come with time and exposure sadly. As for what he is wearing? Maybe he knows, maybe he doesn't. I can say for certain that if you travel enough you'll find people wearing English-language clothes without knowing what they are wearing. Spend some time in a Turkish bazaar and listen to the minor bits of English that the shop-assistant (basically tea retrievers and errand runners) are saying to each other. They, literally, have no idea what exactly they are saying - they just say it to each other. I can not speak for others here, but having done an extensive amount of international travel I know first hand how English language products and terms travel, often jumping meaning and context. As a small, minor example, I was once invited into the family home of my girlfriend (at the time) in Slovenia. Their neighbor's daughter was wearing a UCLA T-shirt. She had no idea what it was, just read it as "uck-la". Even if that is the University where I got my undergraduate degree, I didn't bother correcting her because it didn't matter. She was happy to wear it.

Third - I don't see Sagan making statements against women's cycling or sport, do you? If you do, please point it out to me. Until you do, I don't see any hypocrisy there.

Fourth - if Sagan is being sexist, what about Cipollini? A 23 year old kid who is still learning how to be a gentleman compared to a 46 year old former professional who puts out videos of his women's team that look like they were directed by Rocco Siffredi, Italy's most famous male porn star?

Sorry to spoil your psychologist guessing game, but this picture might explain why Cancellara didn't join the "party".
As you know road cycling is different, for example, to motorsport racing where the whole podium is called at press conference, but just the winner is urged to the press room.
And no, Im not trying to defend Cancellara or ruin Sagan's image as I couldnt bother less.
