Derailleur Clamps
Moderator: robbosmans
Has anybody replaced their Derailleur Clamp with an aftermarket clamp?
If so, what kind of weight savings can be seen there?
I have a 34.9 Dura-Ace 7800 Front Derailleur.

Thanks.
Do you remember how much your 7800 clamp weighed?
It looks like Shimano Fr. Der. clamps are about 30g, correct?
I just put on a KCNC clamp, partially to save weight and partially go get black. It seems well made and is much cleaner than the previous one, and it weighs 15g compared to the 30g clunky clamp. The only quirk is that it positions the front derailleur somewhat farther back than the other clamp, but the shifting is fine.
Thanks for that BK.

but remember you need a "braze on" Front Derailleur for the aftermarket clamps

I also use a Parlee clamp on my SR FD. The clamp did slide down even using the plastic clear tape that was supplied with the clamp. I finally found that cloth tape allows a better friction surface and the FD no longer slides down into the crankset.

I'm using the omni racer carbon 34.9 clamp on my caad9. Comes in at 6g. Sram red setup comes in at around 65g. I used carbon paste and have no issues with it moving around. Also shifts just as good as it did before. Not bad for $25.
