Open Pave is a great winter tyre, but it won't survive a week of use if there is gravel on the road (especially of the man made variant, crushed stone). The flints stuck to the soft rubber and puncture the tyre quickly.
@Billysan... Ouch is right!

They are two separate road signs It says that drivers should use a low gear for 1/2 a mile, and it says there is a section of road peaking at around 25% gradient. That section could be anything from 10 yards on up.
Not meaning to sound like a dick (anything that gets that steep is awesome) but gradient claims are a real bugbear of mine!

Do you or did you have an Alan cross bike?
Sorry for the late answer, saw your post just right now. I have a Alan TopCross Carbonio, made 1996 or 1997. Have not been on that bike for ages, but it still exists.
Not me, but a friend of mine. And it's not a cyclocross bike.
