ti cross bike

LS Cross frame came in last week. rides really nice. frame weighs 1490g, complete bike weighs 8.1k, 17.9 lbs. The frame is based on the Tuscany with big shaped tubes for the top tube and down tube. I built it up with record, fsa 48/36 crank, phil bb., deda bar and stem, wheels are DT 240s with reflex rims., alpha Q fork, spooky alloy brakes.

Damn, that chain stays looks Loong...and is it illusion or is that steering angle really so "relaxed"?

good eyes samu. the chainstays are 44cm from center of bb to axle. that's 8mm longer than my guerciotti and 5mm longer than my buddy's redline. its pretty short in the trail department though with the Alpha-Q fork's 50mm of rake. seems to turn really well. I think the steering head angle is 73 degrees. It might be 72.5, I can't remember for sure and I don't have the drawing handy.
So what would be the drawback to longer chainstays?

I know chain stays....my first designed ti cross bike had 410mm, now they all have 420mm for better clearence tire->seat tube.

-longer chainstays weight more,flex more,are easyer to design and make bikes turning radius bit bigger.

So how can say what is good...I'm happy with 420mm.

Thanks for the info Samu. I checked the drawing and the Head tube angle is 72. the fork rake is 47mm.
