What should I be looking at for just my rear?

That would be the KCNC titanium skewer.

Pick any 2......

Personally I take the reliability of Shimano over lighter weight, XT are a good mix within the Shimano range of weight and cost, XTR are ruddy expensive!

This topic has been done to death so many times!

The days of "light, strong, cheap pick two" are well and truly over with companies like KCNC, Mt Zoom, etc

KCNC Titanium- use the search function to confirm this

If you call £40 for skewers cheap, thats fine.....when cheaper ones are less than 1/3 of that.

Therefore days of light, strong and cheap are not over, you'll always get something heavier and or weaker for less money than the lighter items......they may not be as stratosphericllay expensive as they were, but they still aren't cheap!

Any issues with using 135mm width on rear?

Yeah, I realized too late that this was the MTB forum. I suppose i can use these skewers on 130 road hubs, assuming there's enough thread to stick out the far end and still be tight enough.

Not necessarily cheap, but after trying several others that did not secure the rear wheel, I opted for the DT Swiss RWS for my SS 29er.

I'd throw in another vote for the KCNCs. They have a solid clamp force, and the finish seem to be pretty durable. I would say go with the Enve skewers but they only offer them for road!

Since I am rolling a Lefty on my Scalpel, I only need the rear which seems to be hard to find by itself. Anyone have a rear KCNC one they would like to sell?

The Mt Zoom ones are excellent, run four pairs on my various bikes, I like better than the Tune ones on my road bike.
I have 135mm ones on all bikes for easy interchangability, 135mm version is fine on my 130mm TT bike.

I've run the same set of Aerozine lightweight quick releases (practically the same as the KCNC ones) on my lightly-loaded touring bike and now on my XC race bike and they're still holding up fine after several thousand kilometers. I recommend light, cheap QRs to anyone as long as they're not for a trials, DH or dirt jump setup of course.

+1. With so many thru-axle forks now, why must we still buy skewers in pairs? I haven't seen KCNC rear only anywhere.
